What are some of the cases reported to WARIF via SAP People Connect 365 and how has WARIF intervened?

WARIF sends template questions 3 times a month to traditional birth attendants (TBAs) (beneficiaries on the WARIF SAP Platform) to enquire about cases of rape and sexual violence in their communities.  Response from  TBAs are via sms  text message with cases of rape and sexual violence  reported as and when they occur in their communities. We have so far received over 200 (Two Hundred) notifications from different communities.

These notifications include:

  • 5 reports of violence
  • 3 of those cases were rape
  • 1 unspecified report.

WARIF intervenes with these cases by reaching out to the survivors directly encouraging them to visit the WARIF Centre in order to access our free medical care, psychosocial counselling and other forms of social welfare as well as reporting the cases to the law enforcement. Some survivors are also counselled online and anonymously via our 24hrs helpline +2348092100009.
