Re: Why do SAP Mobile Services call it a LTE Diameter Hub?

While the base hub is technically a DRA (Diameter Routing Agent) or DSC (Diameter Signalling Controller) and able to handle any Diameter traffic, the platform we are working on is supplied solely for the purposes of allowing LTE (4G) networks to communicate, thus allowing roaming. The use of the name Hub is to highlight its main intention to act as a hubbing point for S6a and S9 LTE roaming interfaces.

As such SAP Mobile Services will continue to call the main element a LTE Diameter Hub.

We also offer multiple DEAs (Diameter Edge Agents), which can be outsourced to customers if required.

Re: Why do SAP Mobile Services call it a LTE Diameter Hub?

While this thread is mainly concerned with the Diameter Hub, it is worth expanding on Shahzad's point about the Outsourced DEA we offer.

A DEA (Diameter Edge Agent) is the interface between an MNOs Diameter network and the rest of the world. Our Outsourced DEAs can fulfil this function for MNOs not ready to invest in having their own DEA. Our DEA will connect directly to an MNO's HSSs and MMEs for S6a traffic and to the rest of the LTE roaming community via our Diameter HUBs. We can 'normalise' internal AVPs to the industry standard as needed as well as other additional changes that can be made if needed by the MNO.

The Outsourced DEA allows an MNO to quickly join the LTE Roaming Community while the longer term plans are being finalised and once the MNO deploys their own DEA we can work with them to transition the traffic flows to our hubs as and when required.
