SAP Digital Interconnect will be implementing the following Character Mapping Activity Freeze for our platforms during the mentioned dates below.
Friday August 16th, 2019-Monday September 9th, 2019
Character Mapping Change Freeze
Service Impact Assessment:
During the maintenance, we will be remapping inbound characters to themselves so that we don’t lose any data. The outbound character mapping will also be adjusted so that we encode each character according to the destination carrier’s desired DCS value. If the destination carrier doesn’t have a desired DCS value configured, we will assume they support DCS0, and send the characters unaltered. If the destination carriers have a desired DCS value configured, we will set the hex values so those characters will be rendered correctly.
We intend on executing a series of maintenances during this freeze period and will share additional information regarding the scheduling of these maintenances once confirmed.
Since inbound character mapping directly impacts how outbound characters are mapped, customers may experience some characters being rendered incorrectly on the destination carrier’s network during the freeze period due to the fact that these maintenances are being spread out over several days.
Once all of the systems are updated,end-users will be able to send a greater array of characters which will be a significant improvement to their overall customer experience.
