Regulatory Information

It is the customer’s responsibility to comply with all the rules and regulations as stated in the Code of Conduct and as specified by the operators themselves. Please refer to the material published by the relevant regulatory bodies.

  • Messages with Advertising content are only allowed during the hours: 7 AM- 10 PM Saudi Time Zone
  • Religious, political or adult content is NOT permitted.

URL Registration and Rules on message body

  1. URL registration is required for URLs to be contained on the message body. Non-registered URLs will be filtered and will NOT be delivered.
This is implemented only by STC since 9th May 2019 which applies to all promotional and transactional traffic which includes URL in the message body.

  2. Shortened URL is forbidden. URLs generated by URL shortener services e.g. (bitly,
    For example, is not allowed.

  3. If you registered URL, and STC approves it, message body must only include or http(s)://
In addition, if you try to send message body with URL , the SMS will not be delivered. This is because the subdomain "news" is not registered and only "www" is registered. Both subdomain and domain name must match what has been registered.

  4. URL registration is separated from sender ID registration, which means if STC approves a sender, it does NOT mean the same sender can use any URL in the future campaign.
